This photo of Riebeek valley was taken as we drove over the pass and shows the Winterhoek Mountains in the distance with Vines and Olives in the foreground, note all the reservoirs are full ready for the long very hot dry summer.

Hi Jonty and Maryrose, This is completely brilliant! I have been logging on each day to see if you have found time to update your blog. The pictures are wonderful and I can only begin to imagine what it must be like for you, Jonty, to see the country of your birth-family. What a journey! In all senses of the word. I want to know if you are feeling overwhelmed, energised, exhausted by all this new stuff, or simply that you might be coming home. And, Maryrose, can you contain your excitement?!!! Should you? How has it been for you and Fred? By the way, fantastic to see Fred, he looks so happy with his cousins (is that right?). Makes me realise that I haven't seen him for a year or two. Oh dear! Dear Sarah, the only way that I can descibe how it feels is to relate to an earlier experience in my life, that was while listening to a radio 2 programme about previous years music and news. It featured 1981 I was in New Zealand for practically the whole of that year, so I was intregued to listen to an hour of news clips and music from that year. Some of what I heard was familiar but most was completely new and yet when heard was not strange, similar to lost bits from a jigsaw that finally fitted. At the time of listening I felt sad at having missed all those events back home, but then I would have missed all the wonderful things that happened to me while I was in NZ.
Hi Sarah, the excitement has been all most undiscribale. Sue and her family are delightful and have made us so welcome. She looks just like Jonty, they even sneeze the same.We have had a dramatic morning one of Sue's freinds had anasthma attack and we had to drive her with the oxygen cylinder to local hospital in paarl. we are off to see snake lions cheetahs tomorrrow and crocodiles!!!
