Welcome!

So here it is by popular demand-my Blog!
The idea was originally suggested by my wonderfull step daughters Jo and Caroline, they wanted to share in the experience of our trip to South Africa. I then discovered that they were not alone and many family and friends also wanted to be kept informed about our trip.
So what's so special about this trip?
Most of you already know but in case someone has been kept out of the loop (by perhaps having had a recent trip to Mars!) I shall explain.
About a month ago I found my birth mother, she gave me up for adoption over 48 years ago and for the last 11 years I have been trying to track her down. I finally had success through a Google search and sending an email to her Cousin, it was a long shot but it worked!
Since then we have been in touch through email on a daily basis. We had a lot of catching up to do! and email has been a fantastic way of doing this as the information comes through in bite size pieces. The discoveries have been fantastic. Not only have I found my mum who turns out to be a fellow foodie and at nearly 70 is running her own fruit vinegar factory and a busy Bed and Breakfast, but that I also have THREE half sisters and 2 nieces and 2 nephews plus Aunts and Uncles.
So we are off to see them all on Saturday and this blog will hopefully keep everyone up to speed as to who, what and where happens.
I must add that this is my first attempt at doing a blog so please be patient and forgiving!!
